Kiersten began practicing yoga in 1996. She decided to become teacher when she discovered Baptiste Yoga. The depth of the practice, holistic approach to health and wellbeing combined with the powerful transformational process kept her coming back to her mat again and again. Through her own personal transformation and empowerment she realize that it was her purpose and passion to share this powerful practice with as many as people as possible. She opened her first studio in 2007.
Her ability to create and sustain strong teams and build community is extraordinary, resulting in powerful growth and transformation for thousands of people. Bala Vinyasa Yoga is committed to giving back to the community through monthly service leadership programs and offering classes for non-profit organizations. “I recognize that as a teacher it is great to have followers, but to be a bold leader you must empower others to be leaders and give them permission to shine. My aspiration is that through the practice of yoga we will empower each and every person to create and live the life that they were born to live, therefore changing the world.”
As a teacher, Kiersten’s students enjoy her lighthearted perspective, grounded by profound insights that help sustain them through a powerful practice. Her strong background in physiology enables her to safely and effectively guide her students to their edge while allowing the space to support their growth. Kiersten holds the space for students to fully express themselves invoking total self-acceptance. Her classes encourage students to exceed self-imposed limitations to facilitate great physical and spiritual transformation.
“Teaching is a service. I hope that students feel like they’ve been given more than a class, that they’ve been inspired, empowered and received an experience they can take off of their mat and implement into their lives.” Kiersten encourages her students to awaken to their personal power, to be on a mission to create the life that they want to live, and to be bold enough to live it and make a significant contribution to the world.
After graduating with a double BA in Sociology and Exercise Sports Science and Sports Medicine from the University of Miami, Kiersten went on to graduate studies in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition.
